Since logging back into the site I've been looking through my match searches, and my history on the website. It's kind of comforting to see that some of the girls who rejected me early on are still floating around the site trolling for men. Maybe it's because it indicates that they were the issue - that they were too picky/not very compatible. It's not me, it's them.
I'm going to go ahead and try to do some OkTrend type stuff on any data I can pull from my account. Some statistical analysis if you will - hopefully you guys find it interesting.
All of these ideas come from the OkTrends website, which is a blog that the operators of OkCupid run. They perform a bunch of statistical analysis on their huge database of account holders to determine trends in messaging patterns and success rates. It's super interesting and I highly recommend it to anyone with a few free minutes. It's what brought me to the website in the first place. More after the jump.
One luxury of having had no real success to date is that I see girls come, and I see girls go, over my long tenure on the site. Most girls eventually close their accounts, and I'd guess it's probably 75% out of frustration and 25% that they found someone (either online or off). The site allows you to remember people (add them as favorites) and I use this to keep track of girls I've messaged, or who I want to message and to see the comings and goings (activation/deactivation) of those I'm interested in.
Of the girls I've been on dates with (see the Scorecard) 5 out of 11 (or 45.5%) still have active accounts (meaning they've signed in at least once in the last week). The other six have all either permanently or temporarily deactivated their accounts, two of which (The Fashionista and MLD) did so immediately following their respective dates with, and subsequent rejection by, me (Yes? No? Maybe so? You be the judge). The Separatist, The Ontarian, and Gamer Girl all deactivated their accounts within a week of our respective relationships ending as well.
Active account holders: The Musicologist, The Cow Girl, The East Coaster, The Activist, The Silversmith
Deactivated accounts: The Separatist, The Ontarian, The Composer from Denver, The Gamer Girl, The Fashionista, Must Love Dogs
Anyways, the point of the above was to say that the two girls who seemed the most cold when rejecting me (Musicology and Cow Girl) are both still single and looking, and the ones that ended it with me for various reasons, also ended their search online (indicating they were legitimate reasons). Of particular note, East Coast still has a very active profile. I didn't like her very much anyway. Bitch.
More to come soon, including graphs!
