As I said in my update, I thought my date on Night 2 went very well, and I have plans to see her again. Therefore I'm skipping "Entry _______: Night 2, The Silver Lining" for now.
Night 3 belonged to Must Love Dogs (MLD) and it came in the wake of two other dates. By Saturday night I was already pretty tired but this date had been planned for awhile and I didn't want to cancel last minute. It was also on the heels of my more or less successful date with The Silversmith so the night's company had a lot to live up to.
Must Love Dogs
Age: 22 Height: 5'7''
Stats: Undergrad, dog owner, looking for short-term dating
Anyways, let's recap. MLD was an undergrad finishing up her last year here before she's off to bigger and better things. She wasn't looking for anything long term, just for the short-while. Not exactly what I'm looking for, but why not give it a shot.
She suggested we meet up for a drink at the Distillery in the Quatier Latin (there are several locations). I arrived early to a crowd of underage Québécois lined up to get inside. She took a Bixi there, but couldn't find an empty rack so was a little late. She was recognizable, but didn't really look like her pictures. We decided to go elsewhere considering the state of the line (which had only grown longer in the meantime). We walked down to Saint Denis and ended up at a Trois Brasseurs (yuck).
We had a seat an ordered some beer. Conversation was dull, we talked about undergrads and residence and underage drinking. She wasn't very interesting and I found her slightly annoying. I spent most of the time trying to figure out how to get out of the date early. Maybe I had friends to meet up with? Work in the morning? It's not you, it's me? We finished our drinks, I paid the bill and we walked back towards St. Laurent and campus, theoretically to find another bar to have another drink.
Conversation turned a little political and I disagreed with a few things she said. Just as we started to walk up St. Laurent, and nearing a corner I could escape down, she started complaining about Montreal/Quebec and talking about politics. Why come all the way here for school if you don't like it? Oh well. I dismissed myself, I might have muttered that I had to go into work or had work to do the next day or something, and said goodnight. I thought it had been pretty obvious we didn't really get along, and she wasn't too taken aback when I left as abruptly as I did, so I assume she had put the pieces together.
Oh well, maybe it is that I'm becoming more picky, which is probably a good thing. I was starting to worry that all that was out there were girls I wanted to date, but didn't want to date me. It means that the connections I have made with some of these girls are more legitimate then I once might have thought, and not necessarily a product of me wanting to be not single right now.
Anyways, at least I made something out of my weekend of superdating. Hopefully the silver lining will become something more.
